Spring into Action! Opportunities for Your Clients and the Community

For those fortunate enough to not need their stimulus, here are 3 ways for your clients to use their funds.

Last week, the $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package was passed, which will send direct payments of up to $1,400 to many Americans. For those fortunate enough to not need their stimulus right now, there are plenty of options on how to spend the funds. Why not use that money to invest in their future, or help others in the community? Encourage your clients to do just that!

Here Are 3 Ways Your Clients Can Put Their Stimulus Check to Use:

  1. Consider adding it to their retirement plan. Encourage your clients to think long-term and invest in their future. Have your clients consider starting an IRA at $100 a month; the saving habit is started and they get a tax deduction! Or, if eligible, start a 403(b) or 457(b) with their employer; the stimulus money is used to offset the monthly contribution for the year. By the end of the year, they will have adjusted to their new take home pay and may be ready to increase. Need some resources?
    • IRA Landing Page: IRA’s can be a powerful tool for long-term financial goals. Find marketing resources on our IRA Landing Page!
    • TRAK: You can use The Retirement Analysis Kit (TRAK) software to show your clients what their expected retirement gap is so they can stay true to their retirement savings goals.
  2. Use the stimulus check to help their community by shopping local. Small businesses have been hard-hit during the pandemic, so why not use that money to put it back into the local economy? Start by learning about local businesses – set aside a day to explore their town, or use sites such as Discovery Map, which publishes colorfully illustrated maps of various towns that show places to stay, eat, shop, and entertain yourself locally, or Yelp.
  3. Do Good by donating to their favorite charity or nonprofit. Find a nonprofit that’s focused on a cause they care about!
