IUL Rates Changing in New York

Record low interest rates and extreme market volatility are triggering New York Regulation 210 conditions to keep pricing spreads within required boundaries. Until now, our New York rates have been higher than our non-New York rates. In turn, National Life Group and life insurers industry-wide are now making similar rate adjustments to their New York rates.

On May 15, we are lowering certain rates on all indexed universal life insurance products in New York. Our products continue to remain competitive in this environment and provide value to our policyholders.

Indexed Universal Life New York Product

  • The benchmark Point-to-Point-Cap Focus S&P 500 strategy will decrease from 10.25% to 9.75% on FlexLife, PeakLife, LifeCycle Solution and Ultra Select products
  • The benchmark Point-to-Point-Cap Focus S&P 500 strategy will decrease from 7.25% to 6.25% on Ultra EIUL
  • Products affected: NL FlexLife II, NL FlexLife, NL FlexLife 2019, PeakLife NL, PeakLife 2019 NL, LifeCycle Solution, Ultra Select, and Ultra EIUL
  • There are no changes to fixed strategies
  • Rate reductions follow NY Regulation 210.

Illustration systems will be updated with new rates on May 15, 2020 for the June sweep dates. With the June sweep dates, cap and participation rates will change for new business and maturing inforce buckets per the below charts.
