Index Crediting Top 5

Be prepared when the questions arise.

Each year, we take the opportunity to address the top five questions we receive from distribution partners regarding our index crediting program. Our goal is to ensure you are well-prepared to handle these inquiries whenever they arise. Please take a moment to review this year’s top five and the additional resources provided.

Where can I find the historical performance of an index?

Current rates and historical performance of an index can be found on the Agent Portal under Products/Interest Rates.  Rates for both life and annuity products are located there.  Interest Rates Index

Where can I see how much a policy has been credited?

Index crediting can be seen on both the agent portals and mobile apps.

  • Locate the policy in your Inforce book of business
  • Click the policy number
  • Click the documents tab
  • In the Document tab, look for the Index Earnings Confirmation statement

The Index Earnings Confirmation statement shows the sweep and crediting date, the index earnings rate, and the dollar amount credited to the policy.  This statement will be available for every month there is an index segment.

How can I change the index allocations on a policy?

Only policy owners can make changes to their index allocations. The fastest way to change index allocations is on the policy owner portal or mobile app. Allocation changes made online are straight-through processing.

What happens to existing funds once I choose a new index?

When changing index allocations, the existing segments remain in the current strategy. The new funds will enter the new strategy selection. Once the existing segment matures and credits, the funds will be reallocated to the new strategy selection.

The policy owner changed allocations 6 months ago. Why aren’t they receiving any index credits?

Index segments mature after 1 year so any potential index credits would not show until that segment matures one year later.
