LIAM: Focus on Hispanic and Latin Americans
In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, let's take a closer look at this burgeoning population.
The Hispanic or Latin population, which includes people of any race, was 63.7 million in July of 2022, making it the Nation’s largest racial/ethnic minority – 19.1% of the total population. Slightly more than half (51.1%) of the total U.S. population growth between 2010 and 2022 came from growth in the Hispanic or Latin population.

Do you have to be a member of the Hispanic community in order to serve it?
The answer is two-part:
- Must you be of Hispanic or Latin American descent? No.
- Must you be present and engaged in – a member of – their communities to be successful? Absolutely.
National Hispanic Heritage Month reminds us that the American identity is woven together from diverse traditions and stories. The Hispanic community believes that building a relationship with a financial professional is very important. Their preference is to work with someone who takes the time to get to know them, is visible in the community, and who provides a proper education (versus transactional experience) and exceptional service! Despite the fact that this process may take some time, it also increases your chances of being recommended to family and friends, which is the preferred form of communication among the community.
