Rider Additions to Inforce Life Insurance Policies

Alzheimer’s Disease and Fertility Journey riders are now available.

Alzheimer’s Disease Accelerated Benefit Rider is now available in California.

Alzheimer’s Disease Rider (Not available in NY)

Additional underwriting may be required. Maximum issue age is 60.

For policies issued on or after:

FlexLife and PeakLife 2019 Series — October 27, 2019
BasicSecure — July 25, 2020
SurvivorLife — May 1, 2021 (ABRs can only be applied for after the first death)
TotalSecure— January 8, 2022
Term — January 22, 2022
SummitLife — April 23, 2022

How to add the new rider with iGo eApp

  1. Select Start New Case.
  2. Provide case information. For Product Type, choose the last option: Change/Reinstatement and Contract
  3. Select the company that issued the policy (LSW or NL).
  4. Pre-Qualification screen: Select Yes to indicate that you’ve contacted the Home Office if you have no questions about eligibility. If you do have questions, you can’t move forward with the application until you have contacted contractchange@nationallife.com; include the policy number along with your questions.
  5. Primary Insured screen: Provide personal information.
  6. After Issue Changes Requested screen: Provide the Existing Policy Number and Existing Product Type. Select Add Benefit/Riders.
  7. Next, click on Accelerated Benefits (ABR). Select Accelerated Benefit Rider Alzheimer’s. Depending on the product and state approval, you can also add the Fertility Journey Rider.
  8. Premium adjustment: Select No. You can add the riders at no additional cost. But if your client has been underfunding their IUL, this would be a good opportunity to talk to them about increasing their premiums.
  9. Answer medical questions.
  10. Submit. (You do not need to add an illustration to this application).

How to add the new rider with a paper application

Use the state-specific Policy Change Application kit 1441 and fill out the following sections:

  1. Policy Change Application
  • Part A: 1 through 5
  • Part B: 3 — write in the rider names next to Other:
  • Part G
    2. Registered Representative/Agent’s Report: Policy Change
    3. Policy Change/Term Conversion: Supplement To The Application
  • Details must be provided for all Yes answers
    4. Disclosure Statement for Accelerated Benefits
    5. HIPAA Compliant Authorization
