Key Things to Know
Eligibility & Availability
- Clients can elect to add the PCC Rider at the time of application for an additional cost based on age, rate class, death benefit amount, gender, and selected monthly payout percentage. (Otherwise, the discounted Chronic Illness Rider will be automatically included at no extra cost.)
- This rider is available for issue ages 18–75.
- High-risk rate classes are not eligible to add the PCC Rider.
Benefit Details
- With the new PCC Rider, your client will know exactly what they will receive if they qualify for a chronic care payout: the full death benefit amount (up to $3 million), paid out on a monthly basis.
- If a client selects the 4% monthly payout option, they can switch to 2% later, but once the rider is issued, they cannot switch from 2% to 4%.
- Payouts are capped at the IRS annual per diem limits ($156,950 in 2025).
- Each benefit period lasts 12 months, with re-certification required each year to continue receiving benefits.
- The lifetime limit for the PCC rider is independent of the lifetime limit on other Accelerated Benefits Riders.
