Heroes Among Us

At National Life Group, celebrating those who make a meaningful impact in our communities is at the core of what we do. This dedication was on full display at our recent event, held in collaboration with POG Financial, the Detroit Prowl, a women’s tackle football team, and Detroit Public Schools.

The event honored the nominees for the LifeChanger of the Year and Do Good Heroes awards. The LifeChanger of the Year award recognizes exceptional K-12 school employees, while the Do Good Heroes program highlights extraordinary service by fire, rescue, EMS, and police personnel. These awards reflect our commitment to honoring those who positively influence education and community service.

Among the notable honorees were Sydney Hebel, acknowledged for her remarkable dedication to the Special Olympics and her role as a physical education teacher for children with special needs, and Kelly Bernadyn, recognized for her exceptional service as a full-time EMT and coach for children with special needs.

National Life Key Accounts Representative Devon Martin and POG Financial Agent Mindy Bartnicki had the honor of presenting the awards, recognizing the honorees for their outstanding contributions.

Both Sydney and Kelly, who are also members of a women’s football team, are strong advocates for financial literacy and women’s empowerment. Their work demonstrates how education and advocacy can foster positive change within the community.
