Celebrating a True LifeChanger: Arjelis Heredia Named Grand Prize Winner

Arjelis Heredia, a dedicated middle school teacher at Children’s Community School in Waterbury, Connecticut, has been named the 2024–2025 National Life Group LifeChanger of the Year Grand Prize Winner!

Each year, LifeChanger of the Year honors K–12 educators and school employees who make a lasting difference in the lives of students and their communities. Arjelis exemplifies everything this program stands for.

With over 14 years of unwavering commitment to her students, Arjelis has transformed her classroom into more than just a place of learning—it’s a hub for real-world readiness. She goes beyond the traditional curriculum, teaching her students essential life skills like financial literacy, career readiness, and social responsibility. Thanks to her efforts, students graduate knowing how to open bank accounts, craft résumés, and give back through community service projects.

Heredia received the Grand Prize award of $10,000, with half going directly to her and half to her school. The award was presented by R.J. Marchewka, Rise North Capital Investment Advisor Representative, during a surprise celebration attended by the student body, faculty, local leaders including a city councilman, and the school’s director. Since, R.J. has been actively working to build relationships within the school community.
