Breaking Barriers | The Legacy of Black Pioneers in the Insurance Industry

Since the early 1800’s African Americans have made their mark in the insurance industry.

According to the Library of Congress, the first Black insurance company serving the Black community in the United States was established in Philadelphia in 1810. This makes insurance one of the earliest wealth-building entrepreneurial ventures for Black people.

Since then, financial services remain a great opportunity for wealth-building for Black financial services professionals and customers alike.
