Announcing Our 2024–25 LifeChanger of the Year Spotlight Award Winner
Cafeteria specialist Martha Jimenez receives $5,000 cash prize for decades of service to students and colleagues.
In 2024, National Life Group’s LifeChanger of the Year put the spotlight on Cafeteria Workers, who make sure students get the nutrition they need to fuel their education. This year’s winner of the LifeChanger of the Year Spotlight award is Martha Jimenez, a cafeteria specialist at Midway Park Elementary School in Euless, Texas.
Jimenez has been a vital member of the Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD community for 21 years. She has dedicated seven years of service to Midway Park Elementary School and previously worked at another school in the district.
Jimenez is known for her warm smile, friendliness, and positive outlook, forming meaningful relationships with both staff and students. She is famous on campus for remembering many children’s names and offering comforting hugs or kind words.
As a cafeteria specialist, she exceeds expectations by being punctual, prepared, and rarely absent, while also supporting her colleagues. Her commitment to student well-being is evident as she communicates with teachers about student needs and ensures no child lacks lunch money.
“Martha helps students start and end their day with the nutrition they need to succeed. Her dedication and care for the students have made her an invaluable asset to the Midway Park community,” said Rachel Burdett, Jimenez’s assistant principal and nominator.
Jimenez was surprised with the award on Friday, February 14th, by Maria Marquez of SLD Solutions alongside Burdett, Midway Park Elementary School principal Liesl James, and Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD superintendent Dr. Joe Harrington. The surprise took place during a school-wide pep rally in front of roughly 700 students and staff.
As Spotlight Award Winner, Jimenez received a $5,000 cash award to be shared between a $2,500 individual prize and a $2,500 donation to her school.
