Women in Insurance

National Life Group was a recent exhibitor and sponsor of the Women In Insurance and Financial Services (WIFS) annual conference in Chicago.

Over 400 women attended the 80th anniversary of this years’ WIFS conference.  The audience included agents from both the career and independent channels, managers, advisors, CPAs and attorneys.  One hundred ninety members submitted qualifications for their Circle of Excellence reporting a combined income of $56 million; a 17% increase over last year.

WIFS is the largest conference for women in our industry.  National Life Group had a strong presence from the distribution side with Pam Blalock and Joyce LaRosa.  Our field and WIN leaders were also well represented with Jennifer Warfield, Rebecca Dunne, Tara Showalter, Carey Earle, Stephanie Burmester and Michelle Dienst.

Prior to the annual conference, we held a small Women’s Insight Network (WIN) program for our own producers.  This year we were very proud to be mentioned from the main platform several times and were recognized by two different key note speakers.  Our very own Ellen Putnam, who was a pioneer in the insurance industry, was recognized during their anniversary video.  Three years ago they didn’t know who we were.  That wasn’t the case at this conference.  We were exhibitor, sponsor, our logo appeared on all the room keys and smart phone chargers.

Our own women are now taking leadership positions in WIFS.  Carrie Sayre (career agent in the Texas Agency) is President of WIFS Dallas chapter, Andrea Gellert (career agent with South Florida) is incoming President of WIFS in South Florida, Jennifer Warfield is Secretary of the WIFS Philadelphia Chapter and Tara Showalter is planning on engaging with WIFS in Jacksonville, Florida.

This conference helps to network and build relationships with producers from across the board.
